THE HISTORY BEHIND YOUR TAX SHOP’S OFFICE

THE HISTORY BEHIND YOUR TAX SHOP’S OFFICE

Your Tax Shop, based in the heart of Ashton-under-Lyne’s town centre, expanded their team and relocated from their Mossley office back in May 2017.

Since moving addresses to our current office based in Ashton-under-Lyne, Your Tax Shop have learnt a lot about the building’s history and the stories behind the old stone building and carved inscriptions.

Originally, the building housed a pub named The Brown Cow dating back to 1823. The pub was then renamed in 1846 to The Shepherd, later becoming The Shepherd’s Inn.

The Shepherd’s Inn pub was rebuilt in 1910, to become the present building that Your Tax Shop work from today. The building continued as The Shepherd’s Inn until 1975.

The beautifully designed Edwardian architecture and carved inscriptions can still be seen to this day above the entrance to Your Tax Shop’s office.

Your Tax Shop, a local multi-award-winning accountancy practice, are proud of the building’s heritage and the thriving, professional office that it is today. Do you live local to Tameside and remember The Shepherd’s Inn pub? Get in touch today, we would love to hear from you!
